The other Ladies
Designed by hotel people. Built by Fincantieri.
Most cruise ships are built from a catalog: marble-effect veneer, stamped-brass railings, the same drop-ceiling everywhere. Virgin did the opposite. They hired Roman & Williams (the studio behind Ace Hotel NYC and Le Coucou) for the public spaces, Concrete Amsterdam (W Hotels) for The Manor nightclub, Tom Dixon for The Wake, and Softroom for the cabins. The result is a 1,400-cabin ship that reads more like a boutique hotel chain than a floating mall.
The hull itself was built at Fincantieri's Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa, the same shipyard that builds for Seabourn, Silversea, and the smaller Holland America fleet. These are working luxury hulls, not cruise-industry megaships. More on the design philosophy.
Lucky Lotus, and the original VV identity.
Scarlet Lady is the ship VV pilots new ideas on. The newest of those: Lucky Lotus, the Chinese evening concept that takes over the Razzle Dazzle dinner service starting in 2026. Wok-driven menu, dim sum at the bar, Sichuan heat balanced against more familiar comfort dishes. She keeps the daytime Razzle Dazzle (the vegetarian-forward bistro and Sunday drag brunch) intact.
She's also where the brand identity lives most strongly: the original Roman & Williams interiors, the first Manor, the first Wake, the first Scarlet Night. If you want to understand why VV reads the way it does, this is the ship to start on.
The rest of the lineup is the shared VV core that runs on every Lady: The Wake (Tom Dixon's steakhouse), Pink Agave (modern Mexican), Test Kitchen (chef's-counter tasting), Extra Virgin (Italian), Gunbae (Korean BBQ at communal tables), and The Galley (the daytime food hall with seven counters). Plus The Manor nightclub, the Sun Club, Aquatic Club, Redemption Spa, the Athletic Club, and the open-air running track on deck 16. Scarlet Lady runs a split year. Summers in the Mediterranean, May through October, from home ports in Barcelona, Athens, and Rome. Winters in the Caribbean, November through April, from Miami.
For 2027, Virgin lengthened her Mediterranean sailings to 9 to 12 nights for deeper port time. We can pull current sailings, fares, and live availability for any specific dates you're considering.
